Donald Trump brokers a historic peace deal between Thailand and Cambodia. The agreement was signed at the ASEAN Summit in Kuala Lumpur, ending months of conflict.

Thailand and Cambodia have officially signed a peace declaration on the sidelines of the ASEAN Summit in Kuala Lumpur. The agreement, which ended the armed conflict between the two nations, was reached through the mediation of U.S. President Donald Trump. This was reported by G.Business, citing footage of the signing ceremony.

The leaders of Thailand and Cambodia signed a declaration aimed at resolving the conflict that had been ongoing since May 2025. The signing took place during the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) summit in Kuala Lumpur.

U.S. President Donald Trump attended the ceremony in person, having traveled to Malaysia specifically for the event. He had previously served as mediator between the two countries and helped broker a ceasefire agreement.

Also present was Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, who together with Trump had facilitated the de-escalation of clashes between Thai and Cambodian forces back in July.

The signing ceremony was moved to an earlier time at the request of Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, following the death of Queen Mother Sirikit.

Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet announced after the ceremony that his country would nominate Donald Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize.

Before arriving in Kuala Lumpur, Trump wrote on his social media platform Truth Social:

“I’m on my way to Malaysia, where I will sign the Great Peace Agreement I proudly brokered between Cambodia and Thailand. Sadly, the Queen Mother of Thailand has just passed away. I extend my condolences to the great people of Thailand. I will meet their wonderful Prime Minister once we land.”

The agreement marks the first official step toward stabilizing relations between the two nations after months of military confrontation along their shared border.

Observers describe it as a diplomatic victory for Trump, who has stated that he aims to end not only the Russia-Ukraine war but also other conflicts around the globe.
