League of Legends Down: Current Login Errors in Germany 2026

League of Legends server outage on Jan 4, 2026, in Germany. Over 7,000 reports of login errors and client issues. Riot Games is working on a solution.

The online platform League of Legends experienced significant technical impairments on January 4, 2026, which led to thousands of error reports, particularly in Germany. According to data from the portal Downdetector, users from major metropolitan areas such as Berlin, Hamburg, and Munich reported massive problems establishing a connection to the game servers. Approximately 81 percent of those affected failed at the initialization stage of the game client, while another 12 percent reported errors during the actual login process. Reports of a complete standstill of the Riot Games infrastructure spread across social networks, with the Teamfight Tactics game mode also remaining inaccessible for German users. Especially players using networks from providers such as Vodafone or Deutsche Telekom complained about authentication timeouts, reports NewsToday24 citing hindustantimes.

Riot Games officially confirmed the disruption via its service channels and stated that technicians are already working on resolving the root causes of the errors. Within the German gaming community, there was speculation as to whether the Vanguard security system or recent updates to the EasyAntiCheat (EAC) software were responsible for the blockages. To address the disruptions locally, experts recommended that affected players in Germany terminate all Riot processes via the Task Manager and restart the client with administrator privileges. Switching to public DNS servers and flushing the DNS cache were also mentioned as effective immediate measures to bypass routing issues with local providers. Despite these potential solutions, the situation remained tense for many users for several hours, as the primary cause was suspected to lie within the central server infrastructure of Riot Games. Maintenance work continued into the late evening hours to fully restore regular gaming operations for the German community in the new year.
